DreamCatcher Readership Survey!

Hey guys! I created a little survey to see what kinds of folks I have reading this comic, and I'd really appreciate it if you could take a couple minutes to fill it out! You can find it here!

If you like DC for its writing and characters, check out my webnovel Kody over on Tapas! It's got vampires who are mortal, were-creatures that aren't wolves, and some reluctant humans that have to put up with them all.

Would you still read DC if it moved away from a traditional comic format? (There would still be art.)

Chapter 24: Cover

I Say...

Hazumirein says,

Man, you guys are getting spoiled with the color lately. Don't get used to it.

I admit that this cover isn't exactly what I had in mind originally, but that's because the concept I had in mind was much vaguer than I thought and I just didn't know what exactly to actually put on the page. I'm at that weird stage of artistic prowess where I'm capable of drawing a large portion of things I see in my head, but not if those things aren't clearly formed. This wasn't.

That said, this whole image can be interpreted as a kind of a summary or metaphor for the nature of the relationship Riza and Dae will have throughout the course of the comic. It's uh. It's interesting.

Question of the Update: What the hell am I talking about, what kind of relationship is this, exactly? (Note: I'm not referring to any potential romantic/platonic/whatever relationship, think in more literary terms)

Song of the Week: "Downfall" - Matchbox Twenty. Chapter title inspiration (it was originally something else but I never liked it), and a hint towards the QotU.

And You Say...

LouLouBaBa says,

Yay! English interpretation time!

I got my GCSE's soon so this should be good practice to interrupt you drawing.
Okay... um... Their both falling so they must hit something to stop them, maybe the end of their journey together, which will end in disaster looking at the speed their going. Dae is falling on his back looking up at Riza so from what we now know, Dae secert of being a half-dragon is out and Riza knows this now, so she can provide her support for him which is what she's doing in the picture, holding onto his hand. So Dae is trying to maybe get away, like he did with Nirako to protect them from himself, but Riza's not going to let him do that.
Love your colours!

SpiralofDragon says,

Looks like Riza is trying to rescue Dae (who looks like he very much wants to be rescued), but it isn't very effective since Riza is falling herself. All this is taking place on the backdrop of a war of Titans. Ones that, apparently, have taken over Riza and Dae making an awkward co-existence. Personal and global struggles abound.

In other news, I really like the art of this page! Particularly the textured stained glass sort of style.

ZZ Digital says,

Falling represents outside forces, like whatever is going on to warrant new dreamers.
Riza is reaching out to save Dae, and any elaboration for specifics seem to fail me on words, so I'll just leave that as a general statement.
Dae fell first. He wants to be saved, but he's also more worried that he'll cause more trouble than he's worth for whoever he gets close to.
Also he lost his shoes. John McClane style.

goldwolfnhn (Guest) says,

not sure

not really sure about what them both falling means but it could be that Riza has decided that no matter what happens she'll stay by Dae no matter what.

On other things. Me and my mom do a fair amount of stained glass work and that so if you wanted a real example of your background picture let me know. Or find us at Glass Agate on facebook, but you'd have to send us a good pattern that we could make copies of and cut into pieces to copy the pattern onto glass. But it might not have as many fine details as your picture such as the teeth being individual pieces and such. As the small pieces are a royal pain to work with on any pattern. Also I'm pretty sure I could find some glass with similar patterns to what you drew along with coloration.

TCRanch says,

Aot...u,,, 0.=.0

Well, seems that Riza has determined to save Dae despite any harm that may cone to her. Now onto the important thing. THIS IS FREAKING AWESOME LOOKING!!!!!!!! XD That is all. ^.=.^

Hazumirein says,

I'm glad you guys actually like this cover because I wasn't super thrilled about the way it came out.

@goldwolfnhn: Having an actual stained glass version of this or something else in this style would be badass, I'll have to keep that offer in mind. Do you have a link to the Facebook page? There's a couple Glass Agates. (You might have to like...put some weird spaces or something to post a link in a comment here. Or just email it to me.)

Comments, anyone?
